KAREN BARTON is a versatile screenwriter and author whose talents include writing both hard-hitting drama and feel-good comedy, crafting compelling stories with heart regardless of genre. She studied media and creative writing at the University of Houston, earned a graduate library degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and later received an MFA in Screenwriting from the American Film Institute (AFI) Conservatory.

As a librarian, Karen worked across the U.S. in public, medical, and school libraries where a range of literature and experiences stirred her curiosity and provided inspiration for her work. Her journey in storytelling began in high school through journalism and documentary filmmaking.

Born in Long Beach, CA, Karen grew up in San Antonio, TX and now resides in Los Angeles, CA. She is represented by Aevitas Creative Management.
