WRITER
Karen Barton is an author, screenwriter, director, and educator. Her talents include writing both hard-hitting drama and feel-good comedy, crafting compelling stories with heart regardless of genre. Karen studied media and creative writing as an undergraduate and later received an MFA in Screenwriting from the American Film Institute (AFI) Conservatory.
As a librarian, Karen worked across the U.S. in public, medical, and school libraries where a range of literature and experiences stirred her curiosity and provided inspiration for her work. Her journey in storytelling began in high school through journalism and documentary filmmaking.
Born in Long Beach, CA, Karen grew up in San Antonio, TX and now resides in Los Angeles, CA. She is represented by Aevitas Creative Management.
